Volunteers are a key ingredient in Salvation Army outreach

Doing the Most Good is a challenging standard for The Salvation Army, and a corps of dedicated volunteers helps the Army meet that challenge every day. Organizations across the national are saluting the efforts of their volunteers during National Volunteer Week April 19-25. Volunteers are a key part of The Salvation Army's COVID-19 response across the Southern Territory.

One of those is Patrick, who donates his efforts at the high-risk shelter that opened a few weeks ago in Richmond at The Salvation Army's Central Virginia Boys & Girls Club. A full-time contractor, Patrick's work projects have slowed down as a result of COVID-19, so he wanted to use his extra time to give back where he sees a need in the community. Patrick has become a regular at the shelter, and he helps temporary housing clients in the fitness studio, serves meals, cleaning — wherever help is needed.

The Salvation Army salutes those who donate their time and efforts to help their neighbors in this time of crisis.
