Salvation Army Responds to Tornado Damage in Statesville, NC

By: Shelley Henderson

The Salvation Army was on the ground in Iredell County, NC, providing support for first responders and residents affected by a tornado that hit the town of Statesville on May 24, 2017.
Immediately after the storm passed, Captains Jamie and Aaron Goldfarb canvassed the neighborhood, going door to door to check on families and help transport families that were not able to stay in their homes overnight. On May 25, The Salvation Army, with support from the mobile feeding kitchen and crew from The Salvation Army of Hickory, served breakfast, lunch, and provided emotional and spiritual care to 100 local residents.

"The Salvation Army is here. We will continue to assess the needs of the community and provide support as requested by local emergency management officials," said Captain Jamie Goldfarb, corps officer of The Salvation Army of Iredell County. "We are ready to help our neighbors for as long as we are needed."
