Promoted to Glory: Major Gary Edwards

Major Gary Jackson Edwards, was born on March 12, 1938 to Donnie Midway Edwards and Grace Mae Royal Edwards and was called to his eternal home on Nov. 1, 2021 in Winston-Salem, N.C. Gary was converted on May 16, 1954 and was enrolled as a Junior Soldier on June 13, 1954 in the Winston-Salem Corps. Gary then entered training to become a Salvation Army officer in 1957 and was commissioned with the Courageous session of cadets in 1958.

Gary married his beloved Madeline on Aug. 7, 1958. Together. they served over 33 years as Salvation Army officers in Kinston, Henderson, Charlotte, Gaffney, S.C., Mount Airy, New Bern, N.C., Florence S.C., Winston Salem, N.C., Petersburg, Va., Bluefield, W. Va., and Cambridge, Md., with Union, S.C. as their final appointment. It was on October 21, 2021 that his beloved Madeline received her final appointment as the Lord called her to her eternal home. Now, they are spending eternity together.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Biddix Edwards; his parents; and siblings, Billy Edwards, Mitchell Edwards and Nina Edwards. Surviving are his two children, Jackie Seabolt and husband John Haney and Gary Jackson Edwards, Jr.; two grandchildren, Jakob Perry Seabolt and Braden Chandler Edwards; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Jack Chastain; as well as several cousins and nephews.

Today, Gary and Madeline Edwards rejoice together face to face with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. They loved, lived and shared Jesus in their living.
