Promoted to Glory: Major Anna Vick

Major Anna (Ann) Vick was Promoted to Glory peacefully on July 2, 2021 from the Sturgill Care Center in Brooksville, Fla. at the age of 77. She was born Dec. 3, 1943 in Bypro, Ky. and spent most of her youth in Eloise, Fla.

Ann was the youngest of 12 children and was the last surviving sibling. She is survived by her husband Major Tom Vick, her daughter Melissa (Bobby) Riordan, and her granddaughter Natalie Riordan. Ann also had many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Ann met The Salvation Army when her family moved next door to the corps building in Winter Haven, Fla. She became a soldier and was active in all corps activities during her youth. Ann and Tom met while studying at The Salvation Army’s school for officer training, and Ann was commissioned with the Heroes of the Faith session of cadets in 1964.

Tom and Ann were commissioned to Pensacola, Fla. as assistant corps officers. From there, they served in Panama City, Fla., Anderson, S.C., Pinellas Park, Fla., Tallahassee, Fla., Pensacola, Fla., Winter Haven, Fla., Tallahassee, Fla. (a second time), Florida’s Divisional Headquarters, and Port Richey, Fla. before retiring in 2008.

Ann loved reading and read several books per year during her retirement. She was a faithful corps programmer and bible teacher, leading many, young and old, to the Lord over the years. Ann also had a beautiful singing voice, performing solos often in Sunday meetings.

Celebration of Life Service – Sat., July 17 at 11:00 am; Family will receive beginning at 10:15 am
