Knoxville youth spiritually invest in Angel Tree program

Over the course of four decades, The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program has made a tremendous impact in the community. In 2019, that continues to be true and, in Knoxville, Tennessee, a group of young people got to experience the giving ministry firsthand with spiritual investment.

Janine Ekhardt, an employee of the Knoxville Corps through the Blood & Fire Initiative, accompanied a group of Corps Cadets to the setup for Angel Tree distribution on Sunday, Dec. 15. The visit was multi-purpose in that Ekhardt was able to explain the Angel Tree program to the group, showcasing the hard work that was already underway and the purpose behind what was transpiring.

From there, Ekhardt challenged the youth to pray for the children and families that would be receiving the gifts, and the Corps Cadets took that a step further in spreading out to pray over the gifts themselves.

The impact of The Salvation Army’s angel tree program is wide-ranging and, in this instance, the principal of “Doing the Most Good” was on full display.
