Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Michael Crabtree helps keep kids bundled up in Baltimore

Dec. 17, 2018 was a dream come true for young members of The Salvation Army of Central Maryland's Boys & Girls Club in Franklin Square. They enjoyed a personal shopping spree with local sports celebrity Michael Crabtree, wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens.

Having recently moved to Baltimore, Crabtree was disheartened to see how few children walking the streets of Baltimore had access to warm clothing during the winter months.

So, Crabtree, his Crab5 Foundation, and his family and teammates took 25 Boys & Girls Club youth on an outing to the Burlington Coat Factory in Towson, Maryland, to buy them new coats, shoes and games. Ravens players shopped alongside the kids before treating them to pizza and drinks.

The Crab5 Foundation is dedicated to creating an environment for inner-city youth that encourages personal and professional development through cultural activities, the arts, music, sports and academics, with a vision of producing well-rounded individuals.

Burlington Coat Factory and Crabtree will also donate an additional 100 coats on behalf of the Crab5 Foundation to support other Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club youth throughout central Maryland. The clubs offer after-school programs, summer school programs and free summer camps to children in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.
