On September 17, 2013, the Suffolk, VA Corps 100 years of service to the community and dedicated their new 22,000 square foot Community Center.
The building was envisioned by the Corps Advisory Board to be a place where the community people could come together to have their needs met both physically and spiritually. The building is to house not only a significant basketball program in the community but, has also received funding for a significant new computer literacy program and a dedicated computer center with 38 computer stations.
A senior adult program has also been funded to assist individuals in obtaining a better quality of life through personal health education, exercise and spiritual growth.
The dedication was attended by more than 300 participants with dignitaries in including Mayor Linda T. Johnson, City Councilman Charles D. Parr, Sr., Virginia House of Representative Chris Jones, Advisory Board Chairman James Butler III, and the NCV Divisional Staff led by Divisional Commander Lt Colonel John Jones.
