A Global Call To Prayer

Starting on January 1, 2011, The Salvation Army launched A Global Call To 24-7 Prayer: A day and night cry for justice.  Led by General Shaw Clifton, this movement seeks to bathe the world in prayer at all times of the day.  Inspired by Luke 18:7, and with The Salvation Army’s mission close to their hearts, Salvationists meet human needs head-on through God’s love and grace.  Please, pray for your friends, family, and complete strangers in need.

Virginia Food Assistance

The Salvation Army in Hampton, VA operates several food programs to benefit  those in need in the community.  The Salvation Army’s Food Pantry partners with the USDA to provide food to families.  Moreover, the Street Feeding Program utilizes the Army’s mobile feeding unit to provide hot meals.  Finally, the Kid’s Café offers free meals and snacks to low-income children. The feeding programs are also bolstered by classes on nutrition assistance, coupons, and budgeting.

Tax Season

It’s that time again.  Tax season.  Well, for those who are lost, fret not!  Many Salvation Army’s throughout the United States are offering tax preparation assistance to qualified low income individuals and seniors.  Modesto, CA is one such location.  Again this year, VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will assist qualified parties with the preparation of their State and Federal income tax forms. The VITA personnel are professionally trained by the IRS and updated each year on all the new rules and regulations. The best part – there is no charge for the service!
