David and Donna Brown. They were driving around town talking about finding a new church home. They had just helped their daughter get established in a church, and now it was their turn. Donna was told by the Holy Spirit to go to the Salvation Army. When she told her husband, his first thought was, “Are they a church?” They went home, looked up the closest Corps on-line, and attended a salvation meeting in Hickory back in January of 2012. It was the night the DVD was being shown that the General had passed out. They were impressed and decided to come back the following Sunday morning.
Donna said they knew they were in the right place when they saw that the meeting was called the Holiness meeting and that the cloth on the holiness table read, “Holiness Unto the Lord”. They had found a home. Donna is a gifted piano player, David sings like he should be doing this professionally! David now preaches every third Sunday at the early service at the Shelter of Hope. David works for a major car manufacture and is often flown out of town to give presentations three to four times a month. He now plans his flights to make sure that he attends the early service and the Holiness meeting. They have developed a wonderful relationship with the shelter.
