PROGRAM PROFILE

Wonderful Words of Life is a 15-minute weekly program of hope for adults of all ages. The messages will stir your spirit and the music will soothe your soul. It features relevant Christian talk and some of the best Salvation Army music in a variety of styles. Fifty-two programs are produced each year and are currently released worldwide for on-air broadcast through over 200 outlets and on-line via the Internet.

The co-host for the program is Major Willis Howell, Divisional Commander of the North and South Carolina Division. His guest for this series is Major Vivian Childs, Director of Inter-Cultural Ministries for The Salvation Army Southern Territory.  These two engage in lively dialogue as they share listeners’ feedback, personal stories, or guest interviews before previewing the message for the day.  The speaker is Lt. Colonel Vern Jewett (pictured above), Divisional Commander of the Florida Division. His life-long experience in ministering to others, as well as his preaching and teaching of the Scriptures is evident in the friendly and communicative style he brings to the microphone.

CommissionersSteve&JudyHedgren2The special guests on program 7 airing May 5, 2013, are Commissioners Steve and Judy Hedgren. Steve was speaker on Wonderful Words of Life from 1993 to 2008. Majors Howell and Childs and talk with the Hedgrens about all that has transpired in their lives since 2008 when they were appointed to serve in The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory.

Soon after his promotion to be Territorial Commander of that Territory, Steve was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. The Hedgrens share their compelling story about how their faith in the Lord has sustained them during this illness, giving powerful testimony of how God has been faithful to them and how they and their family have grown spiritually in their relationship with Him. Indeed, listening to their personal accounts will strengthen your own faith and hope in God.
