For over 50 years, The Salvation Army has been harnessing the powerful medium of radio to communicate its message and its mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Today, its cross-platform programs, Wonderful Words of Life, Maravillosas Palabras de Vida, Heartbeat and Latido, are nationally syndicated programs of The Salvation Army in the USA.  They are projects of the National Program Conference produced at the Southern Territorial Headquarters, Evangelism and Adult Ministries Department.

The purpose of the radio ministries is to support the mission critical work of the local Salvation Army in communicating the unchanging gospel message of Jesus Christ through contemporary, creative and relevant programming.  The programs evangelize the lost, provide worship opportunities and discipleship for Christians, and increase overall community awareness of The Salvation Army and its mission.

Multicasts On-Air and Online

The four programs combined are reaching potentially millions of listeners worldwide through an extensive network of traditional and new media outlets including:

  • Terrestrial radio station broadcasts on over 1,600 different AM, FM and shortwave frequencies
  • Internet streaming audio on demand since 2001
  • “Internet only” radio stations
  • Podcasting and MP3 downloads since 2008

The broadcasts, followed by personal contact at the local level, realistically demonstrate one of the many ways God uses The Salvation Army to share His love with the spiritually hungry.  Because of its worldwide, organizational structure, The Salvation Army is uniquely equipped to use broadcast media as a springboard for one-on-one evangelism.
