The December 29th service at the Princeton, WV Corps was attended by some special guests including Mary, and her young child who- according to Matthew 2:11- had moved to a house, where the congregation witnessed their famous visit from the magi.
The wise men’s trip took most of the service as they followed a star who played “We Three Kings” on a tuba, as they periodically wandered in and out of the various doors of the chapel. On their journey, the wise ones took up the offering, won “prizes” of gold, frankincense and myrrh during a trivia contest on related scripture, and shared a very special reading as the star lit the Christ candle on the Holiness table.
It was stressed that no one really knows how many magi came from the east to meet the Messiah, but we are delighted to report that at least three seekers asked Jesus into their hearts after the message! The candle lighting ceremony at the end of the meeting finished with each person present extinguishing the lit candle they held, as they vowed to “Glow in peace” themselves, that others might see Christ’s light shining in them and be led to the one who called Himself “the light of the world”.
