The youth of the southeast and northwest communities of Roanoke, VA were engaged in a very active and energetic VBS this summer. “K-Cap” (aka Captain Ken Argot) saw a need for the youth to experience Jesus in a Hip Hop fashion of a Biblical nature.
Captains Ken & Amy Argot conveyed throughout the while we as individuals can choose what we say, how we act and what we listen too—we need to always keep Jesus in the center of our thoughts, words and actions.
An average attendance was just over 100, including volunteers and youth! Each night, dinner was served to everyone in attendance. The VBS attendees then went into an opening celebration led by K-Cap and MC, Tyler Langhorn. Bible Class, Dance Class, Unspoken Word, Craft/Projects were then rotated by various age-level groups. Each night everyone gathered for prayer and safe travels.
Throughout the week performances given by local Hip HopDance Group, “Party Rangers” and Rapper “Tyler James” featuring Rachel Argot One Wednesday Captain Amy Argot presented the Gospel in dramatic form to Youth and Volunteers.
Over 80 youth responded to accept Jesus as their Savior. Captains Ken and Amy Argot are praying that the excitement that “HIP HOP HOPE” ROANOKE! Brought to The Salvation Army in Southeast Roanoke will continue into the Youth Programs that will begin in September.
