Following a delicious breakfast, officers and staff looked at core value #3 “Trustworthy”. Our promise is to ‘Do the Most Good’ with contributions of time, money, and resources. In delivering on that promise, we ensure that donor expectations are met and that services are performed fairly, effectively, and efficiently.
Our guest today was Captain Cameron Henderson, Corps Officer Lawrenceville, which is part of the Metro Atlanta Area Command. The Captain introduced two of the corps programs, each showing great success. The first “Home Sweet Home” is a transitional housing program for families in Gwinnett County. The Lawrenceville Social Services Director, Debra Wingrow and a client of the program also spoke. The second, the Music Conservatory program attracts many community children for music, and creative arts instruction and performance. The latter was watched on a video produced for today’s event.
Captain Henderson then led Family Time choosing the theme of Holiness. “We are all made by God to be Holy” he stated; choosing a number of scripture passages to illustrate his theme.
The hour long event then ended with the announcement of a fellow employee who has been spotted “Doing the most good.” John Brown, Property was chosen for his many acts of kindness and extra duty in keeping our buildings and other property in good working order. The Winner of the drawing, for lunch with the Chief Secretary was Major Bonnie Jordan.
We were then reminded of our collective challenge this week to raise money for the Yongue Children’s Home in The Congo, Africa.
